Perdido Key has always felt to me like a hidden sanctuary—many feel it’s a bit off the beaten path but delivers quiet, wide beaches and some seriously impressive upscale homes directly on the Gulf. Sandwiched between Pensacola and Orange Beach, Alabama, Perdido Key is the Western Gateway to Florida, and with its direct coastal access and location within Florida (many prefer the tax status of living in Florida versus Alabama), Perdido Key is destined to grow rapidly. The condos here are abundant too, especially in big complexes that offer resort-style living without the hustle of busier beach towns. In many ways, it is becoming an Eastern extension of Orange Beach, Alabama. I’ve found the vibe to be very low-key and private, Perdido Key is a place where you can unwind and have access to many amenities in addition to easy access to both Orange Beach and Pensacola.
